I am very happy to share that I received the Best Oral Presentation Award at SaSSOH2026.

I feel truly honored to have received such a wonderful award.

At SaSSOH2026, I presented my research on the mechanisms underlying intestinal colonization by ST131, a pandemic clone of antimicrobial-resistant E. coli. ST131 has spread worldwide and is known to cause serious infections. In my research, I focus on how ST131 colonizes the intestinal tract and how it spreads within humans.

When I found out that I would be giving an oral presentation, I was very nervous because it was my first oral presentation in English. However, throughout the preparation, I received so much support from many people, including Horiuchi-sensei and Sato-sensei, as well as everyone in our lab, my seniors, and my fellow students.

In particular, Horiuchi-sensei gave me detailed advice on everything from the content of my presentation to the slide design. I learned a lot about how to make my presentation clearer and easier to follow.

I would also like to thank Michael-sensei and Jirachaya san for taking the time to practice my presentation in English with me. They gave me many helpful suggestions on natural expressions, pronunciation, and intonation.

And of course, I would like to thank Sato-sensei for practicing with me right up until the presentation. The day before the presentation, he even gave me an intense three-hour coaching session! Thanks to all the time we spent practicing together, I was able to give my presentation with confidence.

Looking back, I truly could not have completed this presentation without the support of so many people. I feel that this award was not something I achieved on my own, but something I was able to receive because of the support and encouragement I received from everyone around me. I am sincerely grateful to all of you.

Although I was nervous about giving my first oral presentation in English, my goal was to share what I find interesting about my research with the audience. I am very happy that my presentation was recognized in this way, and I feel that I was able to achieve, at least to some extent, what I had hoped to accomplish.

I will take this experience as motivation to continue enjoying my research, learning from each experience, and growing one step at a time.
